Business
Infineon Technologies AG designs, develops, manufactures and markets semiconductors and system solutions worldwide, focusing on power systems and Internet of Things applications to enable energy efficiency, decarbonization and digitalization. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Neubiberg, Germany, the company operates through four segments: Automotive; Industrial Power Control; Power & Sensor Systems; and Connected Secure Systems; serving markets including electric vehicles, renewable energy, industrial automation, data centers, smart homes and consumer devices with revenue distributed across Europe (approximately 30 percent), Asia (over 50 percent including Greater China) and the Americas (around 13 percent). Its core products and services encompass silicon-, silicon carbide- and gallium nitride-based power semiconductors including MOSFETs, IGBTs and diodes; microcontrollers and microprocessors; sensors for position, speed and current; RF components and connectivity solutions such as Bluetooth, WiFi and Ethernet; high-performance memories; driver ICs; security technologies; and related software and system solutions for applications in automotive electronics, power management, IoT devices and human-machine interfaces. Infineon maintains manufacturing facilities in Germany (Dresden, Regensburg, Warstein), Austria (Villach), Malaysia, Singapore and the United States, alongside R&D centers in Europe, Asia and North America. Recent developments include the completion of its five billion euro Smart Power Fab expansion in Dresden in 2025, supported by approximately one billion euros in funding under the EU Chips Act and IPCEI ME/CT program to advance power electronics for AI and decarbonization, creating up to 1,000 direct jobs; the August 2025 acquisition of Marvell Technology's Automotive Ethernet business to bolster microcontroller leadership and software-defined vehicle capabilities; a January 2025 strategic partnership with Teradyne involving the sale of part of its Regensburg automated test equipment team to enhance power semiconductor testing; and an April 2025 agreement to sell its Austin, Texas fab to SkyWater Technology while establishing a long-term foundry partnership to optimize U.S. manufacturing.
