IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX), founded in 1967 and headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, develops and manufactures proprietary large-format cinema projection systems, cameras, and related technologies for immersive entertainment experiences worldwide, operating through Content Solutions and Technology Products and Services segments; offers IMAX theatre systems including high-resolution projectors, immersive sound systems, patented theatre geometry, screens with proprietary coatings, laser-based digital systems, and 3D glasses equipment for sale, lease, and maintenance to commercial multiplexes, institutions, and exhibitors in over 90 countries; provides IMAX Digital Media Remastering (DMR) for converting films to IMAX format, IMAX Enhanced certification for home streaming and consumer devices with 4K HDR and DTS audio, AI-driven video quality solutions, film post-production services, after-market parts, and rental of proprietary 2D/3D large-format cameras; distributes large-format documentaries, live performances, and interactive events to affiliated theatres numbering 1,759 as of November 2025. The company maintains operations in North America, Greater China, rest of Asia, Western Europe, Latin America, and other international markets, targeting cinema exhibitors, content creators, streaming services, and consumers. Recent developments include a March 2025 multi-territory expansion with Kinepolis for nine new IMAX with Laser locations across Europe, the U.S., and Canada, nearly doubling Kinepolis's European footprint to 13 sites; a July 2025 renewal and expansion of its senior secured revolving credit facility to $375 million maturing in 2030 with reduced borrowing costs and an accordion feature up to $515 million for network growth and operations; a July 2025 relaunch of partnership with HOYTS Cinemas for up to five new IMAX with Laser systems in Australia; an August 2025 agreement with Apple Cinemas for additional U.S. locations; plans for significant expansion in India targeting at least 150 theatres from 34 current; and a prior 2022 acquisition of streaming technology firm Ssimwave for $21 million.
