- PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) is an Indonesian integrated coal mining company engaged in coal mining, processing, logistics, and trading. The company produces thermal coal with calorific values ranging from 4,300 to 7,300 kcal/kg and low ash and sulfur content, primarily for coal-fired power plants; it operates coal terminal facilities including Terminal Batubara Bontang, three barge loading ports, and a coal-fired power plant known as Pembangkit Listrik Bontang; additional services encompass fuel trading, energy marketing, electricity generation, mining contracting, and renewable energy development through solar hybrid plants. ITMG conducts operations across six active mining concessions and several pre-production sites in East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan provinces via subsidiaries such as PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, PT Bharinto Ekatama, PT Jorong Barutama Greston, and others including PT Kitadin, PT Nusa Persada Resources, PT Graha Panca Karsa, and PT Tepian Indah Sukses. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in South Jakarta, Indonesia, the company primarily sells its coal to markets in China, Japan, and domestically while diversifying into critical minerals. In July 2025, ITMG acquired a 9.62% stake in nickel mining firm PT Adhi Kartiko Pratama Tbk (NICE) for approximately IDR 256 billion as part of its strategy to expand into the nickel sector for green energy applications; it continues to explore opportunities in copper, gold, and other strategic minerals following this move, alongside ongoing renewable energy initiatives and strong financial performance with revised 2025 forecasts projecting around 22 million tonnes of coal output, revenue of USD 2.2 billion, and net profit of USD 350 million.
