- Rex Trueform Group Limited is a South Africa-based diversified investment holding company operating across the retail, property, media and telecommunications, and water infrastructure sectors. Founded in 1937 and headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, the company operates as a subsidiary of African and Overseas Enterprises Limited and serves consumers, commercial tenants, broadcast corporations, and municipal entities across Southern Africa, with retail operations extending into South Africa, Namibia, and Kenya.
The company conducts its operations through four principal business segments: Retail, Property, Media and Broadcasting, and Water Infrastructure. The Retail segment operates through its subsidiary Queenspark Proprietary Limited, managing an extensive chain of specialty retail stores and e-commerce channels offering womenswear and menswear collections; formalwear and casual fashion apparel; footwear; fashion accessories; jewelry; and branded cosmetics under proprietary and licensed labels including Queenspark, Queenspark Plus, Jagger, and Cath.Care. The Property segment encompasses the ownership, redevelopment, letting, and asset management of commercial office complexes, retail spaces, and industrial properties located primarily in the Western Cape, including the Rex Trueform Office Park in Salt River and logistics facilities in Epping. The Media and Broadcasting segment, operated via Telemedia Proprietary Limited, delivers broadcast infrastructure and telecommunications solutions; satellite teleport and uplink/downlink services; high-definition outside broadcast (OB) production; microwave link distribution; digital streaming and over-the-top (OTT) delivery; satellite news gathering (SNG); studio facilities; and the supply, integration, and maintenance of specialized broadcast hardware. The Water Infrastructure segment holds strategic interests in utility concession operators through South African Water Works Holding Company Proprietary Limited (SAWW), providing bulk potable water purification; municipal water reticulation; wastewater treatment and environmental compliance; utility infrastructure maintenance; and long-term public-private water concession management.
In recent strategic developments, Rex Trueform Group Limited has accelerated its transformation from a legacy apparel group into a multi-sector holding company through strategic acquisitions and equity consolidations. Within its Media and Broadcasting operations, the group concluded agreements to acquire an additional 25% stake in Telemedia Proprietary Limited, increasing its total controlling interest to 88.71%, while Telemedia expanded its broadcast technology portfolio by acquiring a 35% stake in Interactive Television Africa (ITV Africa). In the Property segment, the company strengthened its industrial property exposure by progressively expanding its majority stake in Belper Investments Proprietary Limited, an unlisted property fund focused on industrial real estate in the Western Cape, complemented by direct acquisitions of prime industrial assets in Epping. Concurrently, the group continues to expand its utility operations through SAWW's water concessions and municipal service contracts, while optimizing Queenspark’s store portfolio and digital retail presence across Southern African regional markets.
