KKR Real Estate Finance Trust Inc. (NYSE: KREF) is a mortgage real estate investment trust that originates and acquires transitional senior loans secured by commercial real estate (CRE) assets in the United States; it also engages in the origination and purchase of credit investments related to CRE, including leveraged and unleveraged commercial real estate loans, senior mortgage loans collateralized by institutional-quality CRE assets owned by experienced sponsors in liquid markets, and floating-rate senior loans. The company targets capital preservation and attractive risk-adjusted returns for stockholders through dividends, having elected REIT status to avoid federal corporate income taxes by distributing at least 90% of taxable income. Incorporated in 2014 and headquartered at 30 Hudson Yards, Suite 7500, New York, New York, KREF operates primarily within the U.S. CRE debt market, serving institutional-quality borrowers and sponsors.
