Business
Samil Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based integrated logistics, port stevedoring, and energy distribution enterprise primarily engaged in multimodal freight transportation, marine cargo handling, warehousing, and petroleum product retailing. Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, the company operates across key industrial hubs nationwide, providing specialized supply chain and energy solutions to heavy manufacturing, steel, chemical, and construction industries. The company organizes its business operations into three primary operating segments: Logistics and Stevedoring, Petroleum Distribution, and Construction and Engineering. Through these divisions, Samil Co., Ltd. provides a comprehensive portfolio of products and services, including: General and Heavy Freight Transportation: Inland freight trucking for industrial goods, hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel coils, wire rods, steel plates, structural steel, and raw materials; specialized heavy-haul transport utilizing multi-axle modular transporters, low-bed trailers, and tractor-trailers for oversized machinery and industrial plant modules; and dedicated container transport between inland terminals, container yards, and maritime ports. Harbor Stevedoring and Terminal Operations: Port cargo loading, unloading, and vessel stevedoring services at key maritime hubs including Pohang New Port, supporting major industrial clients such as POSCO; container yard (CY) and container freight station (CFS) management; bonded warehouse storage; inventory management; and customs clearance coordination. Petroleum Product Retailing and Distribution: Wholesale and retail supply of refined petroleum fuels including automotive gasoline, ultra-low sulfur diesel, kerosene, and bunker fuel oils; operation of franchised and direct-managed service stations (gas stations) and commercial fleet fueling depots across the Yeongnam region; and commercial lubricants distribution. Construction, Civil Engineering, and Other Services: Industrial civil engineering works, plant foundation development, infrastructure earthmoving, specialized commercial vehicle maintenance and inspection centers, and logistics facility leasing. In recent developments, Samil Co., Ltd. has undertaken strategic initiatives to modernize its logistics infrastructure and expand its green energy footprint. The company has integrated eco-friendly commercial transport vehicles into its primary heavy-haul fleet, including LNG-fueled and electric trucks, to align with tightening domestic carbon emission standards. To enhance operational efficiency at port terminals, the company has deployed digital fleet management systems (FMS) and automated cargo-tracking platforms across its Pohang harbor facilities. Additionally, Samil Co., Ltd. has renewed and expanded long-term transportation and stevedoring framework contracts with primary domestic industrial partners, while strategically upgrading select retail petroleum stations with high-capacity electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging infrastructure to adapt to transitioning domestic transportation energy demands.
