Business
Vissem Electronics Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based technology manufacturing company primarily engaged in the development, production, and distribution of optical communication components, light-emitting diode (LED) display solutions, and defense and industrial electronics. Established in 1998 through a spin-off from Samsung SDI's LED business division and headquartered in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, the company operates across five core business segments: Optical Communication, LED Displays and Components, Defense Electronics, Industrial Electronics, and Electronic Materials. The company's core product and service portfolio encompasses: Optical Communication products, including optical fiber splice closures, optical distribution frames (ODF), optical terminal boxes (OTB), fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connection systems, optical splitters, connectors, and patch cords; LED Displays and Lighting solutions, comprising indoor and outdoor full-color LED screens, surface-mount device (SMD) LED modules, lamp LEDs, infrared (IR) and phototransistor components, stadium scoreboards, architectural media facades, dynamic signage displays, and dedicated video display controllers; Defense Electronics solutions, encompassing military-grade wiring harnesses, specialized cable assemblies, electronic control units, and sub-assemblies for surveillance, reconnaissance, command-and-control, and precision strike systems; Industrial Electronics, consisting of electronic control systems and power units for high-speed rolling stock, including KTX railway systems, as well as wired telecommunication network devices; and Electronic Materials, offering soldering pastes, alloy wires, and specialized metal bonding materials for semiconductor and printed circuit board assembly. Vissem Electronics serves telecommunications network operators, defense contractors, railway authorities, commercial enterprises, and industrial manufacturers across South Korea and internationally in more than 40 export destinations spanning Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. In recent strategic developments, Vissem Electronics has significantly expanded its defense electronics operations through the acquisition of Iljin Electronics Industry, a specialized manufacturer of defense-grade cable assemblies and wire harnesses. Following the initial share acquisition in 2024, Vissem Electronics formally executed a statutory absorption-type merger with Iljin Electronics Industry in 2025 to consolidate manufacturing assets, streamline organizational structures, and maximize operational synergies between its defense and optical communications divisions. Concurrently, the company has expanded its optical communication portfolio with high-density, low-latency passive fiber connectivity solutions designed to address rising infrastructure demand from next-generation 5G/6G networks and artificial intelligence data centers.
