Business
Seoul Viosys Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based compound semiconductor and optoelectronic solutions provider specializing in the research, development, and manufacturing of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diode technologies. Established in 2002 and headquartered in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, the company operates as a subsidiary of Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Seoul Viosys develops optical semiconductor components across the full optical wavelength spectrum, encompassing ultraviolet (UV), visible, and infrared (IR) light, as well as vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) and microLEDs. The company serves global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and industrial clients across consumer electronics, automotive, information technology, telecommunications, healthcare, and environmental sterilization sectors. Its primary product and service offerings comprise Violeds optical semiconductor solutions, utilizing UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C wavelengths for air purification, water treatment, surface disinfection, biochemical sensing, industrial curing, and insect trapping; WICOP (Wafer Integrated Chip on PCB), a package-less LED technology designed without conventional lead frames or wire bonding for automotive lighting, general illumination, and high-luminance display applications; WICOP Pixel, a microLED display technology featuring vertically stacked red, green, and blue sub-pixels in a single chip architecture for ultra-high-definition micro-displays, smart wearables, and augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices; VCSEL diode components, engineered for 3D sensing, facial biometric authentication, time-of-flight (ToF) cameras, short-range optical transceivers, and automotive LiDAR systems; Infrared (IR) LEDs, manufactured for in-cabin driver monitoring systems (DMS), security surveillance equipment, and industrial optical sensors; and Visible LED chips and packaging modules, utilized in smartphone camera flash units, television backlighting units (BLUs), and automotive interior and exterior lighting. Seoul Viosys maintains research, manufacturing, and commercial operations across South Korea, North America, Europe, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, including production infrastructure in South Korea and Vietnam. In recent developments, Seoul Viosys has expanded the commercial deployment and mass production capabilities of its WICOP Pixel microLED technology for wearable electronics and automotive display modules. The company has broadened its semiconductor laser portfolio with high-speed 25Gbps VCSEL chips optimized for data center optical interconnects and artificial intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure. Furthermore, Seoul Viosys has advanced strategic partnerships with global automotive Tier-1 suppliers to integrate its WICOP-based adaptive driving beam (ADB) lighting and driver monitoring sensor technologies into next-generation electric and autonomous vehicles, while expanding commercial supply agreements with multinational home appliance manufacturers to incorporate Violeds UV-C sterilization modules across consumer HVAC, refrigeration, and water treatment product lines.
