Burgan Bank K.P.S.C. is a commercial banking and financial services institution headquartered in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Established in 1977, the bank operates as a subsidiary of Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) (KIPCO) and delivers conventional commercial, retail, private, and investment banking solutions across Kuwait and the broader Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT) region. The company operates through three principal business segments: Corporate Banking; Consumer and Private Banking; and Treasury, Investment Banking, and Financial Institutions. Its product and service offerings comprise: Consumer and Private Banking: current accounts, savings accounts, multi-currency accounts, and youth banking accounts; term, fixed, and ladder deposit accounts; personal loans, consumer financing, auto loans, and residential housing credit; Visa and Mastercard credit, debit, and prepaid card products; private banking, portfolio management, wealth planning, and advisory services for high-net-worth clients; safe deposit locker facilities; and digital banking solutions, including mobile banking applications, online portals, and digital payment integrations. Corporate Banking: commercial term loans, working capital financing, project finance, structured finance, and syndicated lending; trade finance services, including letters of credit, documentary collections, and letters of guarantee; transaction banking services encompassing corporate liquidity management, cash concentration, bulk payroll processing, and electronic collections; merchant acquiring services, point-of-sale (POS) payment terminals, and e-commerce payment gateway infrastructure. Treasury, Investment Banking, and Financial Institutions: foreign exchange spot, forward, and swap transactions; money market instruments and liquidity placements; interest rate and currency risk hedging derivatives; fixed-income trading and debt securities management; institutional correspondent banking; and capital market advisory and investment solutions offered in coordination with asset management affiliate Kamco Invest. Geographically, Burgan Bank operates an extensive branch network in Kuwait and conducts regional banking operations through subsidiaries and affiliates, including Burgan Bank Turkey, Burgan Finansal Kiralama, Burgan Yatırım, Gulf Bank Algeria, Tunis International Bank, and United Gulf Bank in Bahrain. In recent corporate developments, Burgan Bank agreed to acquire a 100% equity stake in Bahrain-based United Gulf Bank B.S.C. for 190 million United States dollars to consolidate its regional presence. In capital management, the bank issued 150 million Kuwaiti dinars in perpetual Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital bonds, completed the redemption of 500 million United States dollars in perpetual Tier 1 securities, issued 500 million United States dollars in five-year senior unsecured bonds maturing in 2030, and initiated a 50 million Kuwaiti dinar rights issue to bolster regulatory capital ratios and fund asset growth. Strategically, the bank restructured its Turkish holdings by transferring a 52% stake in Burgan Bank Turkey to KIPCO Group entity Al Rawabi United Holding Company while retaining management control, alongside accelerating digital transformation initiatives through core system upgrades and specialized fintech partnerships.
