Commercial Bank of Kuwait K.S.C., commonly known as Al-Tijari, is a Kuwait-based public shareholding financial institution engaged in the provision of commercial, corporate, retail, treasury, and investment banking services. Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Kuwait City, Kuwait, the bank is the second-oldest commercial bank in the country and operates primarily across the State of Kuwait, serving individual retail consumers, high-net-worth individuals, commercial enterprises, governmental entities, and multinational corporations. The bank conducts its operations through three primary business segments: Corporate and Retail Banking, Treasury and Investment Banking, and International Banking. The bank offers a comprehensive suite of financial products and services, including: retail and personal banking solutions comprising current accounts, salary transfer accounts, fixed-term deposits, and specialized prize-linked savings accounts such as the Al-Najma account; consumer loans, personal financing, automotive loans, and residential housing financing; payment card products including Visa and Mastercard credit, debit, and prepaid cards with integrated loyalty rewards; private banking, safe deposit lockers, and wealth advisory services; corporate banking solutions encompassing short- and medium-term working capital facilities, term loans, syndicated lending, structured finance, and project financing tailored to key economic sectors such as oil and gas, power, construction, and public-private infrastructure partnerships; corporate cash management, electronic payroll processing, and liquidity solutions via the Al-Tijari CashLink and Corporate Online Banking platforms; trade finance services including import and export letters of credit, documentary collections, and letters of guarantee such as bid, performance, advance payment, and retention bonds; treasury and capital market operations encompassing foreign exchange spot, forward, and swap transactions, money market instruments, interest rate risk hedging, and investments in sovereign and corporate fixed-income securities; and securities execution, custody, and investment brokerage services conducted through its subsidiary, Al-Tijari Financial Brokerage Co. K.S.C.C. In recent operational developments, Commercial Bank of Kuwait has accelerated its enterprise-wide digital transformation strategy to enhance its customer-facing technologies and payment infrastructure in alignment with the national New Kuwait 2035 development agenda. The bank entered into a strategic collaboration with Network International to modernize its card issuing and processing capabilities, integrating digital tokenization, real-time fraud prevention systems, and instant digital card issuance. CBK also partnered with Thales Digital Solutions to strengthen its mobile payment architecture and expanded its omnichannel self-service network by rolling out cardless cash withdrawal functionalities enabled by near-field communication (NFC) digital wallets across its nationwide fleet of smart automated teller machines and interactive kiosks.
