Business
Independent Petroleum Group K.S.C.P. (IPG) is a Kuwait-based international energy trading, logistics, and marketing enterprise specializing in the global supply, storage, and maritime transport of crude oil, refined petroleum products, petrochemicals, and fertilizers. Established in 1976 and publicly traded on Boursa Kuwait under the ticker IPG, the company is headquartered in Hawalli, Kuwait, operating an integrated downstream and midstream supply network spanning the Middle East, East and Southern Africa, the Mediterranean basin, the Indian Subcontinent, Asia, and Europe. The company organizes its business operations across four primary divisions: Energy Trading and Marketing, Maritime Shipping, Storage and Terminal Logistics, and Downstream Infrastructure. IPG’s core product and service portfolio comprises the international trading, physical marketing, and supply of crude oil; refined petroleum fuels, including motor gasoline, automotive diesel, gas oil, jet fuel, aviation kerosene, naphtha, fuel oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG); chemical and petrochemical commodities, including methanol, paraxylene, benzene, and ethylene glycol; and agricultural chemicals, including bulk urea and anhydrous ammonia. Through its shipping division, the company owns, manages, and charters a commercial fleet of specialized petroleum product and chemical tankers, providing marine transport for captive trading operations as well as third-party voyage and time-charter contracts. In logistics and terminaling, IPG delivers bulk liquid receipt, storage, blending, handling, and marine bunkering services through equity stakes in major international storage joint ventures, including Arab Tank Terminals Ltd (ATTL) in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia; Vopak Horizon Fujairah Limited in the United Arab Emirates; Horizon Tangiers Terminals SA in Morocco; and the INPETRO terminal in Beira, Mozambique. IPG conducts its worldwide operations through a network of wholly owned and affiliated operating subsidiaries, including Independent Petroleum Group Limited (Bahamas), Independent Petroleum Group (Asia) Pte Limited (Singapore), Independent Petroleum Group of Kuwait Limited (London, United Kingdom), and Independent Petroleum Mzansi (Pty) Ltd (South Africa). The company primarily serves national oil companies, multinational energy corporations, regional wholesale distributors, and industrial power utilities. In recent strategic and operational developments, IPG has advanced the expansion of its Southern African logistics footprint through a 25 million U.S. dollar infrastructure investment in Beira, Mozambique, executed via its subsidiary Independent Petroleum Mozambique, Lda. This project encompasses the addition of multiple bulk pressurized LPG storage tanks, upgraded multi-bay road and rail loading gantries, and integrated pipeline transfer systems to meet rising regional fuel demand. Concurrently, the group has continued to optimize terminal throughput across its joint ventures in Fujairah and Yanbu, modernized its shipping fleet operations to comply with evolving international maritime emissions regulations, and expanded term supply contracts with state energy entities across the Red Sea and East African trade corridors.
