Kuwait Insurance Company S.A.K. is a Kuwait-based composite insurance and reinsurance provider engaged in the underwriting of general, life, health, and Sharia-compliant takaful insurance policies, as well as the management of related investment portfolios. Founded in 1960 as the first national insurance company in the State of Kuwait and the wider Arabian Gulf region, the company is headquartered in Kuwait City and serves individual, commercial, and institutional clients across diverse economic sectors. The company operates through five core business segments: Marine and Aviation, General Accident and Property, Motor, Life and Medical, and Investment and Other Operations. The company provides a comprehensive portfolio of personal and commercial insurance solutions. In its Marine and Aviation division, offerings include marine cargo insurance covering goods in transit by sea, land, and air; marine hull and machinery coverage; pleasure craft and yacht insurance; freight forwarding liability; and aviation hull and third-party liability insurance. In its General Accident and Property division, the company provides fire and allied perils insurance; property all-risks; business interruption coverage; contractors' all-risks and erection all-risks for infrastructure and engineering projects; machinery breakdown insurance; electronic equipment coverage; public and product liability; directors and officers liability; professional indemnity; workmen's compensation and employers' liability; banker's blanket bonds; fidelity guarantee; and money insurance. In its Motor division, Kuwait Insurance Company offers compulsory third-party liability coverage; comprehensive motor vehicle physical damage insurance; personal accident rider coverage; and roadside assistance services. In its Life and Medical division, the company delivers group term life insurance; individual life and endowment policies; credit life protection for financial institutions; corporate group medical coverage; individual and family private health insurance; and supplemental dental, vision, and chronic condition benefits. Additionally, the company operates a dedicated takaful window offering Islamic insurance alternatives across property, casualty, and personal lines, alongside offering inward reinsurance treaty and facultative capacities. Its investment operations manage a diversified asset portfolio consisting of real estate holdings, equities, fixed-income securities, and short-term deposits. In recent operational and strategic developments, Kuwait Insurance Company has accelerated the implementation of its enterprise-wide digital transformation roadmap, introducing an upgraded digital portal and mobile application that enable automated policy issuance, digital premium settlements, and accelerated claims processing for retail motor and health lines. The company has also completed the transition and full integration of International Financial Reporting Standard 17 (IFRS 17) across its underwriting, actuarial, and financial reporting workflows to optimize risk-based capital management. Operationally, the company has expanded its bancassurance partnerships with regional financial institutions and formed direct settlement alliances with healthcare networks and specialized medical administrators to broaden its health insurance distribution footprint. Furthermore, international credit rating agencies, including A.M. Best and S&P Global Ratings, have affirmed the company's financial strength and issuer credit ratings with a stable outlook, citing its robust balance sheet capitalization, consistent underwriting profitability, and strong competitive standing in the Kuwaiti insurance market.
