Wethaq Takaful Insurance Co. KCSC is a Kuwait-based public shareholding company engaged in the provision of comprehensive non-life and life Islamic insurance (Takaful) and reinsurance solutions in full compliance with Islamic Shariah principles. Established in 2000 and headquartered in Kuwait City, Kuwait, the company operates across multiple insurance business segments, serving retail, commercial, and institutional clients. Its primary product and service offerings comprise Motor Takaful, including comprehensive motor coverage, mandatory third-party liability, passenger personal accident cover, roadside assistance, and replacement vehicle services; Property and Fire Takaful, offering standard fire and lightning protection, allied perils, property all-risk coverage, and business interruption insurance; Marine and Aviation Takaful, encompassing marine cargo transport by sea, air, and land, marine hull and machinery insurance, freight liability, and aviation hull and liability coverage; Engineering Takaful, covering contractor's all risks (CAR), erection all risks (EAR), contractor's plant and machinery (CPM), electronic equipment, and machinery breakdown; General Accident and Casualty Takaful, including public and third-party liability, employer's liability, workmen's compensation, fidelity guarantee, burglary, money-in-transit and money-in-safe, professional indemnity, and directors and officers (D&O) liability; Medical and Health Takaful, delivering individual, family, and group health insurance plans with comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, prescription drug, and dental care networks; and Family and Life Takaful, providing individual life policies, group credit life, term life, and personal accident covers. In addition to underwriting operations, the company manages and invests policyholders' and shareholders' funds in Sharia-compliant real estate, murabaha placements, and equity instruments. Geographically, Wethaq Takaful Insurance Co. focuses primarily on the domestic Kuwaiti market while maintaining regional operational exposure and strategic investments across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, including associate operations such as Wethaq Takaful Insurance Company - Egypt S.A.E. In recent developments, the company has undertaken strategic financial and operational restructuring initiatives to optimize its capital structure and ensure full alignment with regulatory solvency margin requirements established by the Insurance Regulatory Unit (IRU) of Kuwait and the Capital Markets Authority. To strengthen underwriting discipline and profitability, Wethaq Takaful has reorganized its portfolio mix by selectively derisking high-loss motor lines and expanding corporate engineering, medical, and specialized commercial liability segments. Concurrently, the company has accelerated digital transformation programs, deploying upgraded electronic policy issuance systems, automated claims processing platforms, and enhanced customer web portals to streamline distribution and improve operational efficiencies.
