Business
Lamar Advertising Company is a leading outdoor advertising company primarily engaged in the ownership and operation of advertising displays across the United States and Canada. Its core products and services include a wide range of outdoor advertising formats such as static and digital billboards; interstate logo signs on highways; transit advertising encompassing bus, train, shelter, and station displays; airport advertising targeting high-traffic airport locations; and specialty advertising including wallscapes, mobile billboards, and experiential marketing campaigns. Lamar manages over 360,000 displays, offering the largest digital billboard network in the U.S. with more than 5,000 digital displays, serving both local businesses and national brands with tailored advertising solutions and programmatic digital buying capabilities supported by advanced data analytics. Founded in 1902 and headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lamar Advertising Company operates through a comprehensive real estate, sales, operations, and technology framework that includes securing prime advertising locations, content management, and the integration of digital technologies such as programmatic advertising and audience measurement. In recent significant developments, Lamar completed a $1.1 billion refinancing in 2025 through its subsidiary Lamar Media Corp., which included a $400 million institutional private placement of senior notes due 2033 and a $700 million seven-year Term Loan B facility. These refinancing transactions strengthened the company’s balance sheet and liquidity, increased flexibility for growth investments, reduced exposure to floating interest rates, and extended debt maturity profiles. Additionally, Lamar executed a landmark UPREIT acquisition of Verde Outdoor, adding over 1,500 billboard faces, including 80 digital displays across 10 states, thereby expanding its footprint in the Midwest, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic regions and introducing a new scalable and tax-efficient partnership model for future acquisitions. The company continues an active acquisition strategy targeting about $150 million in small, high-quality deals for 2025 to further enhance its market presence. Lamar Advertising operates primarily within the Billboard & Outdoor Advertising industry, serving a diverse customer base including national and local brands, small businesses, advertising agencies, transportation authorities, and event organizers across North America. This description reflects Lamar Advertising Company’s extensive product and service portfolio, its strategic financial and acquisition activities in 2024-2025, and its operating scale and geographic reach as one of the largest outdoor media operators in North America.
