Loblaw Companies Limited is Canada's largest food and pharmacy retailer, operating a nationwide network of corporate and franchise supermarkets, pharmacies, apparel outlets and financial services under more than 20 regional and market-segment banners including Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Maxi, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, Zehrs, T&T Supermarket and Wholesale Club; it offers groceries spanning fresh produce, household items and general merchandise; pharmacy and healthcare services; health, beauty and wellness products under Life Brand; affordable fashion and family apparel via Joe Fresh; cellular services through PC Mobile; banking products including no-fee accounts, credit cards, auto, home, travel and pet insurance via PC Financial; and private label brands such as President's Choice, no name and Farmer's Market, supported by the PC Optimum loyalty program and digital platforms like PC Express rapid delivery. Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Brampton, Ontario, the company serves customers across all Canadian provinces through approximately 2,500 locations, with distribution via regional divisions including Westfair Foods, National Grocers, Provigo and Atlantic Wholesalers; it remains controlled by George Weston Limited. Recent developments include a $10 billion investment commitment over five years announced in February 2025, featuring $2.2 billion in 2025 for 80 new stores (half hard discount formats), over 300 renovations adding pharmacy clinics, and a new automated distribution facility in Ontario; a September 2025 multi-year expansion with Gatik for 50 autonomous trucks in the Greater Toronto Area supply chain, backed by strategic investment; a planned 4-for-1 stock split effective August 2025; entry into an automatic share purchase plan in March 2025; and an agreement in late 2025 to sell PC Financial to EQB.
