Business
Transgene S.A. (Euronext Paris: TNG) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that designs and develops virus-based immunotherapies, including therapeutic vaccines and oncolytic viruses, for the treatment of solid tumors and cancer; its lead asset is TG4050, an individualized neoantigen therapeutic cancer vaccine from the myvac® platform that encodes up to 30 patient-specific tumor mutations selected using artificial intelligence in collaboration with NEC Corporation, evaluated in a randomized Phase I/II trial as adjuvant monotherapy for resected HPV-negative locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) where Phase I data presented at ASCO 2025 demonstrate 100% disease-free survival at a minimum 24-month follow-up (median 30 months) in all treated patients alongside sustained neoantigen-specific CD8+ T cell responses and a favorable safety profile with no unexpected signals; other key clinical-stage programs include TG4001, a therapeutic vaccine targeting HPV16-positive cancers such as recurrent/metastatic cervical and anogenital cancers in a randomized Phase II trial with avelumab; BT-001, an Invir.IO® platform oncolytic virus encoding an anti-CTLA-4 antibody developed with BioInvent International AB showing promising antitumor activity in ongoing Phase I/IIa trial for solid tumors previously failing standard treatments including anti-PD-1; and TG6050, an IL-12-armed oncolytic virus based on the Invir.IO® viral backbone for intravenous administration in non-small cell lung cancer. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Illkirch-Graffenstaden near Strasbourg, France, the company operates primarily in Europe with preclinical and clinical activities supported by international collaborations and sites including partnerships for manufacturing and trials in the US, UK, and Asia. Recent developments include the November 2025 completion of a €105 million fundraising via private placement and retail investors to accelerate myvac® platform advancement and extend cash runway into early 2028; appointment of Simone Steiner, PhD, as Chief Technology Officer in April 2025 and Maurizio Ceppi, PhD, and Emmanuelle Dochy, MD, as Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Medical Officer respectively in September 2024; strategic manufacturing partnership with ProBioGen announced November 2024 to enhance individualized vaccine production; equity conversion of TSGH (Institut Mérieux affiliate) current account advance in July 2024 strengthening the balance sheet; completion of initial patient screening and first enrollment in the Phase II portion of the TG4050 HNSCC trial by June 2025; extension of NEC collaboration for TG4050 clinical development; and preclinical proof-of-concept data for TG6050 published in the Journal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer in August 2024 alongside ongoing advancements in BT-001 with Merck KGaA/Pfizer and BioInvent alliances.
