Corus Entertainment Holdings Inc. is a Canadian media and content company that creates, produces, broadcasts, and distributes multi-platform video and audio entertainment across Canada and international markets. Founded in 1999 following a spin-off from Shaw Communications and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, the corporation operates as the parent holding entity of Corus Entertainment Inc., catering to domestic consumers, international broadcasters, digital streaming audiences, and commercial advertisers. The company operates primarily through two core business segments: Television and Radio. Under its Television division, the company provides conventional broadcast network programming through the Global Television Network, comprising 15 terrestrial stations nationwide and the Global News service; specialty television channels delivering lifestyle, factual, drama, and youth-oriented programming, including W Network, Showcase, Slice, Home Network, Flavour Network, History, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, and MovieTime; digital streaming services and video distribution via the STACKTV subscription video-on-demand package and the Global TV multi-platform application; and proprietary content production, studio animation, and global intellectual property licensing through animation studio Nelvana, Corus Studios, and children's book publisher Kids Can Press. Under its Radio division, the company operates a portfolio of 39 commercial radio stations situated in urban Canadian markets, broadcasting news-talk, rock, country, and contemporary hit formats; digital audio streaming and podcast distribution via the Curiouscast network; and automated advertising technology and digital advertising sales solutions, including platform representation for Pluto TV in Canada. In recent operational developments, the company completed a major debt-for-equity recapitalization transaction under a court-approved Plan of Arrangement in October 2026, establishing Corus Entertainment Holdings Inc. as the new publicly traded parent entity under the Toronto Stock Exchange ticker symbol CORS to replace the former dual-class equity structure. Approved by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the restructuring eliminated over 500 million Canadian dollars in debt, extended debt maturities, appointed a reconstituted independent Board of Directors, and transferred approximately 99% of common equity to participating lenders, led by Canso Investment Counsel Ltd. In its broadcasting operations, following the conclusion of long-term trademark licensing arrangements with Warner Bros. Discovery, the company executed a strategic realignment of its lifestyle specialty portfolio by launching its own proprietary networks, Home Network and Flavour Network, replacing HGTV Canada and Food Network Canada to secure full brand ownership and expand proprietary content distribution. Concurrently, the company implemented comprehensive workforce and operational restructuring programs across its television, news, and radio divisions to reduce overhead and enhance financial sustainability.
