Business
Orsero S.p.A. (ORS.MI) is an Italy-based company primarily engaged in the import, production, and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables across Europe, Latin America, and Central America. Founded in 1940 and headquartered in Milan, the company operates through three main segments: Distribution, which focuses on fresh fruits and vegetables including citrus, exotic fruits such as berries, kiwis, and table grapes, and vegetables supplied to supermarkets, retailers, and traditional markets; Shipping, encompassing the import, transport, and sale of bananas and pineapples under brands like F.lli Orsero and Simba; and Holding & Services, providing value-added services such as packaging, labelling, product customization, ripening, fresh-cut processing, and logistics through 25 warehouses, 21 ripening centers, and 4 fresh-cut plants. The Orsero Group maintains a leading position in Mediterranean Europe with operations in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and Greece, alongside production and sourcing in Costa Rica, Colombia, and Mexico, marketing over 880,000 tons annually from global growers. Recent developments include the 2023 acquisitions of 100% of French company Capexo S.A.S. for a base price of €33 million and 80% of Blampin Groupe for €32 million fixed consideration, plus potential earn-outs, strengthening its French market presence to match Italy's scale with consolidated turnover around €450 million in that region; additionally, the establishment of a 51%-owned joint venture I Frutti di Gil with Cerchia Holding, alongside full consolidation of these entities from January 2023, supported by ESG-linked financing. In 2024, Orsero reported net sales of €1.571 billion and adjusted EBITDA of €83.7 million, reflecting ongoing expansion and supply chain integration.
