- Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings Plc (LSE: CIZ) develops non-invasive diagnostic blood tests for the early detection of lung cancer using its proprietary patented CIZ1B biomarker technology, a variant of the CIZ1 nuclear protein that specifically identifies lung cancer cells at their most treatable stages prior to symptom onset; the company's core offering is an immunoassay-based blood test that achieves high sensitivity of approximately 95%, reduces reliance on costly and invasive CT scans with high false positive rates, and enables timely curative interventions to improve patient survival rates worldwide. Founded in 2004 as a spin-out from the University of York where it continues collaborative research with the Mammalian Cell Cycle Research Group, Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings Plc maintains its headquarters at 6th Floor, 60 Gracechurch Street, London EC3V 0HR, United Kingdom, and operates primarily in the biotechnology and cancer diagnostics sector targeting healthcare providers, cancer research centers, and high-risk patient populations across global markets including strategic focus on North America. In recent developments, the company raised £0.62 million via equity placing in March 2024 to finalize its first commercial CIZ1B test planned for full US launch in April 2025, entered a strategic licensing partnership and memorandum of understanding with Cizzle Bio Inc. in April 2024 securing an initial US$100,000 upfront payment and £78,000 exclusivity fee while advancing to a royalty-bearing deal for North American commercialization, selected its test for a major study at a leading US cancer center including Moffitt Cancer Center evaluation and collaboration with Omni Health Diagnostics, issued unsecured convertible loan notes totaling £400,000 by November 2025 with participation from Frazer Lang convertible at £0.014 per share by March 2026, appointed a new Chief Scientific Officer, extended research agreements with the University of York, and transitioned into commercial phase following its May 2021 listing on the London Stock Exchange after rebranding from Bould Opportunities Plc.
