Business
TotalEnergies SE operates as a global integrated multi-energy company that produces and markets oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases including biogas and low-carbon hydrogen, renewables, and electricity; it engages in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, refining and petrochemicals including lubricants, special fluids, fuels, and bitumens, power generation and distribution with 31.6 gigawatts of gross installed electricity capacity including 26 gigawatts from renewables, liquefied natural gas trading as the world's third-largest player with a 40 million tons per year portfolio, and retail through more than 13,000 service stations and nearly 78,000 charge points worldwide. Founded in 1924 as Compagnie Française des Pétroles and headquartered in Paris, France, the company employs over 100,000 people and conducts operations in nearly 120 countries across five continents including Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America, targeting business customers, consumers, and industrial sectors with a focus on energy transition toward carbon neutrality. In recent developments, TotalEnergies signed an agreement in September 2025 to acquire a 49% interest in natural gas producing assets from Continental Resources in the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma, enhancing its U.S. gas production to around 150 million standard cubic feet per day net by 2030 and strengthening LNG value chain integration; in December 2025, it expanded collaboration with Chevron through a farmout agreement selling a 40% stake in Nigeria's PPL 2000 and PPL 2001 offshore exploration licenses while retaining operatorship; earlier in June 2025, it acquired a pipeline of eight solar and battery projects totaling 350 megawatts from Low Carbon in the UK; and it continues to build on 2024 acquisitions like Dorado and Constellation in the U.S. Eagle Ford Basin and a 30% share in AES solar and battery assets in Puerto Rico.
