Business
Mustang Bio, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical entity committed to transforming scientific advancements in cell therapies into potential treatments for aggressive cancers and autoimmune disorders. The company’s pipeline prioritizes chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies targeting both hematologic and solid tumor indications. Its leading programs include MB-106, a CD20-directed CAR T cell therapy in development for B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and autoimmune diseases, which has received Orphan Drug Designation for Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation for specific lymphomas. Mustang Bio is also advancing MB-101, an IL13Rα2-targeted CAR T cell therapy for glioblastoma and high-grade astrocytoma, which recently secured Orphan Drug Designation for these conditions. Complementing this is MB-108, a next-generation oncolytic herpes simplex virus, granted Orphan Drug Designation for malignant glioma. A combination therapy, MB-109, which pairs MB-101 with MB-108 to treat recurrent glioblastoma and high-grade astrocytoma, has received FDA acceptance for an Investigational New Drug (IND) application. Mustang Bio partners with renowned medical institutions, including City of Hope and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, to advance its therapeutic candidates. The company was established in 2015 and maintains its corporate headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts, having recently completed a strategic sale of its Worcester manufacturing facility. Recent corporate actions include regaining compliance with Nasdaq listing standards and executing a reverse stock split. As a clinical-stage company, Mustang Bio's financial strategy focuses on securing funding through collaborations, grants, and equity financing to propel its research and development initiatives, rather than product sales revenue.
