- ILPRA S.p.A. designs, manufactures, and markets automated packaging machinery, complete packaging lines, and integrated automation systems for the food, medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care industries. Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Mortara, Italy, the company operates across global markets through a network of direct international subsidiaries and distribution partners spanning Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region. ILPRA organizes its core product portfolio into several specialized machinery categories: tray sealers marketed under the FoodPack series, encompassing semi-automatic, automatic, and continuous in-line sealing units engineered for standard sealing, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), vacuum packaging, and Skin packaging; thermoforming machines under the Formpack and Easyform lines, designed to form, fill, and seal custom containers directly from flexible or rigid film reels; rotary and in-line cup and container filling and sealing machines under the Fill Seal series for liquid, viscous, pasty, and granular products; vertical form fill seal (VFFS) equipment, multi-head weighers, and bucket elevators; automated cosmetic and personal care processing, dosing, and capping machinery; flow wrapping and stretch wrapping equipment; and end-of-line packaging automation, including robotic pick-and-place systems, cartoners, case packers, and palletizers. Beyond primary machinery, ILPRA provides complementary industrial support services comprising custom engineering and design consulting; bespoke tooling and mold manufacturing; retrofit and technology upgrades; predictive and preventive maintenance; technical assistance and remote diagnostics; operator training programs; and original spare parts distribution. In recent developments, the group has executed an active external growth strategy to expand its product lines and strengthen its footprint in niche processing sectors. In July 2025, ILPRA completed the acquisition of a 90% majority stake in Gelmini S.r.l., a Parma-based manufacturer of specialized machinery and automated lines for processing, cutting, and packaging aged and semi-aged cheeses. This transaction follows the company's earlier acquisitions of a 68% controlling stake in IDM Automation S.r.l., expanding its capabilities in automated cosmetic and personal care packaging lines, and a 70% controlling stake in Pentavac S.r.l., broadening its vertical packaging and dosing product portfolio. Additionally, ILPRA has expanded its operational and engineering infrastructure through the completion of new facility spaces at its Mortara headquarters to support increased manufacturing capacity and global commercial integration.
