Business
Martinrea International Inc. (TSX: MRE), founded in 1987 and headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, is a diversified global automotive supplier engaged in the design, development, manufacture, and sale of highly engineered lightweight structures and propulsion systems primarily for the automotive sector. The company produces a broad range of products including chassis components and systems such as front and rear suspensions, body-in-white solutions, and aluminum structures; fluid management systems encompassing fuel tank assemblies, capless refueling systems, air conditioning lines, heater hoses, power steering and brake lines; propulsion systems featuring engine blocks, transmission cases, electric motor housings, battery enclosures, and full powerpack assemblies; as well as fabricated assemblies, plastic injection molded products, and graphene-enhanced components. Martinrea operates through three geographic segments—North America, Europe, and Rest of the World—with over 18,000 employees across more than 56 manufacturing locations in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Slovakia, Spain, China, South Africa, and Japan, serving major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the automotive industry. In recent developments, Martinrea acquired the assets of Lyseon North America Inc. in October 2025, including a manufacturing facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma focused on metal parts and assemblies for the bus market, to expand its U.S. presence, secure business with customer International Motors, and broaden product offerings. The company also invested US$6.0 million in convertible preferred shares of Equispheres Inc. in March 2024 as lead investor—following a prior C$1.0 million investment in 2023—to advance high-performance aluminum powders for additive manufacturing under its Martinrea Innovation Development (MiND) initiative. Additional strategic moves include the establishment of MiND, an investment in NanoXplore, and the 2022 acquisition of Metalsa's structural components business for passenger cars, underscoring ongoing expansion in lightweighting technologies and electric vehicle applications.
