- Lassila & Tikanoja Plc is a Finland-based circular economy and environmental management company that specializes in waste management, recycling, material recovery, and specialized industrial services. Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, the company operates primarily across Finland and Sweden, serving industrial enterprises, commercial businesses, public sector entities, municipal organizations, and residential property owners. The company focuses on transforming waste streams into secondary raw materials, reducing customer carbon footprints, and providing critical maintenance infrastructure across municipal and industrial ecosystems.
The company delivers its solutions across core operational domains: Waste Management and Recycling Services, comprising municipal and commercial solid waste collection; source-separated material logistics; sorting, processing, and refining of recyclable fractions into secondary raw materials, including recovered plastics, fiber, paper, cardboard, scrap metals, and wood; and the production of solid recovered fuel (SRF) and bio-based fuels for energy recovery. Hazardous Waste and Environmental Remediation, offering hazardous, chemical, and oily waste collection, neutralization, and thermal treatment; soil and groundwater remediation; contaminated site rehabilitation; emergency spill response; environmental compliance consulting; and digital material tracking and environmental data reporting through its proprietary Ympäristönetti portal. Industrial Services, providing high-pressure water jetting and cleaning; wet and dry suction vacuum truck services; industrial process, boiler, and tank cleaning; sewer network inspection, hydro jetting, flush cleaning, and trenchless relining; hazardous material containment; sand and gravel extraction suction; and industrial wastewater treatment and separator maintenance. Additional Support and Rental Services, encompassing wooden pallet recycling and logistics management; and portable sanitation rentals and servicing provided under the Bajamaja brand.
In recent strategic developments, Lassila & Tikanoja completed a major corporate transformation through a partial demerger on December 31, 2025, separating its operations into two independent, publicly listed entities on Nasdaq Helsinki. Under the demerger plan, the company spun off its Facility Services division into a newly formed independent entity, Luotea Plc, while Lassila & Tikanoja Plc retained the core Circular Economy business comprising its environmental and industrial service divisions. Alongside the demerger, the company launched a structural efficiency and performance improvement program targeted at generating at least EUR 8 million in annualized operating profit improvements by 2026. Operationally, the company continues to expand its material recovery infrastructure and digital service portfolio across the Nordic region, investing in advanced automated sorting technologies, low-emission fleet electrification, and enhanced circular raw material production capabilities.
