Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel), trading as Singtel, is a leading Singaporean telecommunications conglomerate and the country's principal fixed-line operator as well as one of its four major mobile network operators. Founded in 1879 and headquartered at 31 Exeter Road in Singapore, the company provides a comprehensive suite of telecommunications and digital services including mobile communications, fixed broadband, pay television via Singtel TV, equipment sales, fixed voice and data services, satellite communications, ICT and managed services such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, software-defined networking, Internet of Things solutions, and unified communications; digital media, content and advertising; and fund management for enterprise customers, operating primarily through its Optus segment in Australia, Singtel Singapore consumer business, NCS technology services group, and Digital InfraCo infrastructure unit, with significant regional mobile investments including full ownership of Optus (Australia's second-largest telco), 32% in Bharti Airtel (India), 35% in Telkomsel (Indonesia), 47% in Globe Telecom (Philippines), and stakes in Advanced Info Service and Intouch Holdings (Thailand), serving over 770 million mobile customers across Asia, Australia, the United States, Europe, and other international markets. Geographically, Singtel dominates Singapore with 47% mobile market share, 82% fixed-line, and 43% broadband, while extending operations via subsidiaries and associates in key Asia-Pacific regions. Recent developments include ongoing discussions as part of a consortium to acquire approximately 80% of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in a potential multi-billion dollar deal driven by AI infrastructure demand (November 2025); confirmation of strategic amalgamation involving its Thai associates Intouch Holdings and Advanced Info Service with Gulf Energy Development (July 2025); the unveiling of RE:AI, a cloud service platform to democratize AI technologies for organizations (October 2024); and divestment of its cybersecurity unit Trustwave to streamline focus on core telecom and ICT operations (2024).
