Business
MYR Group Inc. (MYRG) is a holding company of specialty electrical contractors providing construction services for electric utility infrastructure, commercial and industrial facilities, and renewable energy projects throughout the United States and Canada; it operates through two segments, Transmission and Distribution (T&D) and Commercial and Industrial (C&I). The T&D segment delivers design, engineering, procurement, construction, upgrade, maintenance, and repair services for high-voltage transmission lines, substations, overhead and underground distribution systems, clean energy projects, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and emergency restoration following events such as hurricanes, wildfires, or ice storms; customers include investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, government-funded utilities, independent power producers, independent transmission companies, and industrial facility owners. The C&I segment offers design, installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial wiring, along with intelligent transportation systems, roadway lighting, signalization, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure for airports, hospitals, data centers, hotels, stadiums, manufacturing plants, processing facilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, mining facilities, and other commercial sites; customers comprise general contractors, facility owners, government agencies, and developers. Founded in 1995 through the consolidation of longstanding electrical contractors with roots dating to 1891, MYR Group maintains headquarters in Thornton, Colorado, and employs over 8,500 workers across 13 subsidiaries including MYR Energy Services and The L.E. Myers Co. Recent developments include a subsidiary's execution of a five-year Design-Build Electric Distribution Master Service Agreement with Xcel Energy Inc. in July 2025, valued at over $500 million through 2029 for distribution services across multiple states; a November 2024 partnership between MYR Energy Services and The L.E. Myers Co. for a large-scale transmission project with LS Power; and a $75 million share repurchase program authorized in May 2024, completed by July 2025 to enhance shareholder value amid strong demand in data centers and clean energy.
