- Petra Energy Berhad is a Malaysia-based integrated oil and gas services and energy solutions provider specializing in brownfield upstream operations and mature field management. Founded in 1988 with its corporate entity incorporated in 2005 and headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, the company operates across Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah, serving national oil corporations, international exploration and production operators, and energy infrastructure developers. The company structures its core activities across three primary business segments: Services, Marine Assets, and Development and Production. Through its key operating subsidiaries, including Petra Resources Sdn Bhd, Petra Fabricators Sdn Bhd, Petra Marine Sdn Bhd, and Petra Energy Development Sdn Bhd, the company provides a comprehensive portfolio of services and technical capabilities, comprising offshore hook-up and commissioning (HUC); topside major maintenance, construction, and modification (MCM); platform brownfield rejuvenation and living-quarters refurbishment; onshore structural, piping, and mechanical fabrication at its 23,500-square-meter yard; rotating equipment maintenance, precision machining, and hydro-testing services; subsea engineering, inspection, repair, and maintenance; offshore marine vessel chartering; and mature or marginal field appraisal, development, and production operations. Petra Energy serves as the licensed operator for the onshore Block SK433 in Sarawak under a petroleum contract with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and manages operations at the offshore Banang Oilfield in Terengganu. In recent strategic developments, the company secured significant offshore contracts, including letters of award for Pan-Malaysia offshore MCM and HUC services from SapuraOMV Upstream, JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration, and ROC Oil, as well as a RM298 million HUC work order from PETRONAS Carigali for Phase 2 of the Bintulu Integrated Facilities rejuvenation project. Further expanding its field operations portfolio, the company secured a Late Life Asset production sharing contract for the Banang Field and a field operations management services contract with Vestigo Petroleum for the offshore SK407 block through 2028. To optimize its capital structure and transition toward asset-light operations, the company also monetized non-core marine assets through the divestment of accommodation work barges, including the Petra Orbit, Petra Endeavour, and Petra Lyra.
