Business
Metal Energy Corp. (TSXV:MERG, OTCQB:MEEEF) is a Toronto-based critical metals exploration company founded in 2021 through a reverse takeover transaction and headquartered at 141 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The company acquires, explores and develops mineral properties focused on battery and energy transition metals including nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum group elements, gold, molybdenum, silver and rhenium; its primary projects comprise the 85%-owned Manibridge Project (Ni-Cu-Co-PGE) covering 4,368 hectares in Manitoba's Thompson Nickel Belt, the 100%-owned Highland Valley Project (Cu-Mo-Ag-Au-Re) adjacent to Teck Resources' Highland Valley Copper mine in British Columbia's prolific porphyry copper district, and the recently secured NIV Project (Cu-Au-Mo), a fully permitted drill-ready property in British Columbia's Toodoggone District featuring extensive geochemical and geophysical anomalies indicative of large-scale porphyry systems. Metal Energy operates exclusively in politically stable Canadian jurisdictions targeting bulk-tonnage deposits for electric vehicles, renewable energy and clean technology supply chains, with Ore Group Inc. as its parent entity. In recent developments, Metal Energy completed the acquisition of the Highland Valley Copper Project in November 2024 from Happy Creek Minerals Ltd. for $300,000 cash, 11.7 million shares representing a 9.9% stake and a 2.5% net smelter return royalty (1.5% repurchaseable for $5 million), granting the company 100% ownership adjacent to one of Canada's largest copper operations. The company optioned an 80% interest in the NIV and West NIV properties in October 2025 via assignment from Standard Ore Corp., fulfilling Phase 1 requirements in November 2025 through share issuances and cash payments while securing a right of first refusal on the remaining 20% interest, positioning NIV for drilling in 2026. Most notably, Metal Energy announced a $9.3 million financing on November 27, 2025, attracting Centerra Gold Inc. as a strategic shareholder to fund advancing its expanded copper-gold portfolio across three high-potential projects.
