Business
TAG Oil Ltd. (TSXV:TAO, OTCQB:TAOIF) is a Canadian-based international oil and gas exploration, development and production company focused on opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. The company holds interests in the Badr Oil Field (BED-1), a 26,000-acre concession in Egypt's Western Desert through a production services agreement with Badr Petroleum Company, and the Southeast Ras Qattara (SERQ) concession, spanning approximately 2,000 square kilometers, via a petroleum services agreement with the Egyptian National Petroleum for Exploration and Development Company for the unconventional Abu Roash "F" (ARF) reservoir; it also receives production royalties from assets in New Zealand. TAG Oil applies expertise in enhanced oil recovery techniques, including long-reach horizontal wells, hydraulic fracture stimulation and other methodologies proven in Canadian reservoirs, to develop low-porosity heavy oil resources such as the ARF formation in BED-1, which holds an estimated more than 500 million barrels of oil in place according to an RPS Energy evaluation. Incorporated in 1990 and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, the company maintains operations in Egypt, including production from horizontal well BED4-T100 and vertical well BED 1-7 averaging over 100 barrels of oil per day recently, alongside a solid balance sheet supplemented by ongoing cost reductions and potential divestitures of New Zealand royalty interests. Recent developments include receipt in October 2025 of approval for the SERQ petroleum services agreement featuring a sliding-scale service fee of 48-55% of gross revenue to TAG Oil for funding all capital and operating expenditures on ARF development, plans to drill a vertical well in Q2 2025 and a second horizontal well in Q4 2025 at BED-1 to expand ARF output, an extension of the BED-1 evaluation period for additional drilling and monitoring, and advancing negotiations on the SERQ acquisition with independent resource evaluations underway; multiple strategic partners have signed non-disclosure agreements for BED-1 data room access with indicative offers anticipated.
