Business
Trilogy Metals Inc. is a North American mineral exploration and development company focused on advancing high-grade copper and critical mineral assets in Alaska's Ambler Mining District; it holds a 50% interest in Ambler Metals LLC, a joint venture with South32 Ltd., which owns 100% of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) spanning approximately 190,929 hectares and hosting polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits and carbonate replacement deposits. The company's core assets include the Arctic project, a high-grade VMS deposit containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver with projected life-of-mine production of 1.9 billion pounds of copper, 2.2 billion pounds of zinc, 335 million pounds of lead, 423,000 ounces of gold, and 36 million ounces of silver; and the Bornite project, a carbonate-hosted copper-cobalt deposit located near Kobuk, Alaska. Operations target critical minerals essential for electrification, energy transition, and national security, with exploration emphasizing resource expansion in this copper-dominant district; Trilogy maintains a long-term cooperative agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation, to support responsible development while respecting local communities and subsistence livelihoods. Founded in 2004 as NovaCopper Inc. and renamed Trilogy Metals in 2016, the company is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Recent developments include a February 2020 joint venture formation with South32 involving a US$145 million contribution to advance the Arctic and Bornite projects; and in October 2025, a binding letter of intent with the U.S. Department of War for a $35.6 million strategic investment, comprising $17.8 million for Trilogy shares and units plus warrants and another $17.8 million for South32-held shares with reinvestment into Ambler Metals, alongside President Trump's restoration of permits for the 211-mile Ambler Access Project road to enable district access.
