- Insplorion AB is a Sweden-based cleantech and sensor technology company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes optical sensor solutions and scientific measurement instruments based on its proprietary NanoPlasmonic Sensing (NPS) platform. Founded in 2010 as a spin-off from Chalmers University of Technology and headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, the company operates within the advanced instrumentation, industrial safety, environmental monitoring, and materials science sectors. Insplorion provides measurement tools and sensor technologies to academic research institutions, industrial laboratories, energy infrastructure operators, clean-tech developers, and automotive manufacturers across Europe, North America, and Asia.
The company's product and service portfolio comprises: scientific research instruments, including the Acoulyte module, which combines optical NPS technology with Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D) for simultaneous real-time dry and wet mass measurements; the Insplorion XNano and X1 systems, engineered for in situ optical spectroscopy of nanostructures and thin-film material processes under elevated temperatures and pressures; the Insplorion S2 surface analysis system; specialized optical gas detection sensors, including the NPS-P1 portable evaluation device and the NPS-P2 industrial sensor platform designed for rapid, selective, and reversible hydrogen gas detection in ambient and oxygen-depleted environments; fiber-optic battery sensing solutions developed for internal real-time tracking of state of charge and state of health in lithium-ion cells; and proprietary analytical software packages, sensor customization services, sensor chip consumables, and application support.
In recent corporate developments, Insplorion completed the sale of all assets and intellectual property associated with its hydrogen sensor business to Consilium Safety Group in April 2026 for approximately SEK 10 million in cash, transitioning from an exclusive commercial distribution partnership previously established between the two companies in 2025 for marine safety applications. Following the divestment, the company initiated a strategic reorganization under newly appointed executive management to evaluate value-creation alternatives, including potential reverse takeovers and strategic business combinations, while retaining its research instrument activities. In parallel, Insplorion adjusted its market listing by transitioning the trading of its shares to the Spotlight Stock Market from the Nasdaq First North Growth Market.
