Business
Northrop Grumman Corporation operates globally as a prominent aerospace and defense technology enterprise. Its Aeronautics Systems division is dedicated to the design, development, fabrication, integration, and ongoing support of advanced airborne platforms. This segment delivers a range of crewed aircraft, including strategic long-range bombers such as the B-2 Spirit and the next-generation B-21 Raider, tactical fighter components for aircraft like the F-35 and F/A-18, and airborne early warning and control systems exemplified by the E-2 Hawkeye. It also specializes in uncrewed autonomous aircraft systems, encompassing high-altitude, long-endurance strategic intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms like the MQ-4C Triton, alongside vertical takeoff and landing tactical ISR solutions. The Defense Systems sector creates and produces an extensive portfolio of weapon and mission systems. This includes integrated battle command systems, comprehensive weapon systems and associated aircraft, and various mission-critical systems. Furthermore, this segment delivers command and control systems, munitions and missile technologies, precision strike armaments such as the LGM-35 Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile and M1156 precision guidance kits, and advanced propulsion solutions, including hypersonic systems. Lifecycle services and support cover software, weapon systems, and aircraft, alongside logistics, sustainment, operation, and modernization for air, sea, and ground applications. The Mission Systems segment provides sophisticated cyber, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities. Offerings extend to radar, electro-optical/infrared, and acoustic sensors, electronic warfare systems, secure advanced communications and networked solutions, and intelligence processing technologies. It also develops navigation, targeting, and survivability systems, as well as maritime power, propulsion, and payload launch capabilities. Finally, the Space Systems sector offers comprehensive satellite and payload solutions, ground systems, sophisticated missile defense systems and interceptors, launch vehicles, and related propulsion technologies, including strategic missiles. Notable contributions include work on the James Webb Space Telescope, the Cygnus spacecraft for ISS cargo, and the Lunar Gateway HALO module. Recently, the company secured a contract with the U.S. Space Force for in-space satellite refueling technology. Northrop Grumman Corporation was founded in 1939 and maintains its headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia.
