Business
Bajaj Healthcare Limited (BAJAJHCARE.NS), incorporated in 1993 and headquartered in Thane, Maharashtra, India, manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, finished dosage formulations (FDFs), and nutraceutical products for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food industries worldwide. The company produces a diverse range of APIs including chlorhexidine and its derivatives, fosfomycin salts (calcium, sodium, trometamol), carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, deferasirox, citicoline sodium, ascorbic palmitate, octenidine dihydrochloride, hesperidin, and diosmin; intermediates essential for API and FDF processes; FDFs such as tablets, capsules, powders, and sachets; and nutritional supplements like amino acids; with manufacturing facilities across Gujarat and Maharashtra, including 15 API plants certified under USFDA, EU-GMP, KFDA, WHO-GMP, and others, enabling exports to over 60 countries primarily in the US, Europe, Africa, and Australia. Bajaj Healthcare operates as India's largest producer of ascorbic acid and the world's largest manufacturer of chlorhexidine base, while serving as the sole private entity processing opium gum and poppy straw under government contracts, with a new facility handling 250 MT opium gum and 2,500 MT poppy straw annually. In recent developments, the company acquired GenRx Pharmaceuticals Private Limited for ₹10.85 crore in April 2025 to expand formulations manufacturing capabilities at a WHO-GMP-certified facility in Nashik producing tablets, capsules, and nasal sprays, subject to regulatory approvals expected within 3-6 months; signed definitive CDMO agreements with UK and EU customers for exclusive development and supply of 15 APIs; launched new molecules in nutraceuticals, APIs, and formulations; filed 41 DMFs in FY24; and sold a Tarapur plant to reduce debt, anticipating further asset sales by late FY25 to bolster financial position amid market challenges.
