Business
Mangalam Drugs & Organics Limited manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, specialty chemicals, organic and inorganic chemicals; and provides regulatory services to pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The company produces anti-malarial APIs including artemether, lumefantrine, and artemisinin-based compounds; cardiovascular products such as atorvastatin calcium; antiviral agents like acyclovir and dolutegravir sodium; central nervous system drugs including aripiprazole, risperidone, olanzapine, and etodolac; and perfumery chemicals such as l(+)menthol and phthalazine-1,4-dione. It operates multi-product manufacturing facilities in Vapi, Gujarat, and additional sites in India, with an in-house Research & Development laboratory recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Government of India. Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Mangalam Drugs & Organics Limited serves global markets in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, positioning itself among Asia's top producers and the world's largest for select anti-malarial APIs. The company maintains certifications including WHO-Geneva GMP, EDQM, MFDS Korea, and ANVISA approvals for its plants, and holds an ongoing agreement with the Clinton Health Access Initiative under its Fight Malaria Program for anti-malarial API supply. In recent developments, Mangalam Drugs & Organics Limited inks a technology transfer deal with Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited for four anti-malarial APIs to support manufacturing in Africa. The company agrees to acquire Shri JB Pharma LLP in March 2024 via a scheme of merger involving issuance of 265 equity shares, pending National Company Law Tribunal and stakeholder approvals. It achieves WHO prequalification for dolutegravir sodium (non-micronised and micronised forms) in October 2020 and participates in the Medicines Patent Pool pledge with 17 other generic manufacturers to accelerate COVID-19 interventions for low- and middle-income countries.
