Business
Mega Flex Plastics Ltd. manufactures flexible packaging materials, primarily Leno bags, woven fabrics, and Sutli (fibrillated twisted threads) for agricultural produce including potatoes, onions, garlic, coconuts, fruits, and vegetables. The company produces Leno bags from polypropylene granules, offering widths from 20 cm to 72 cm that are cost-effective, water- and moisture-resistant alternatives to jute bags; polypropylene woven fabrics that are lightweight, strong, and chemical-resistant for agriculture, packaging, and construction applications; and twisted Sutli used for tying and stitching bags. It operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on a 2.095-acre leased site in Howrah Poly Park, West Bengal, with an installed capacity expanded to 51.30 million bags annually by 2020, and serves domestic markets across states such as Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra, as well as exports to Europe. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, the company transitioned from a private entity to a public limited company in 2007 under the leadership of Late Anup Chand Sethia and Rakesh Sethia, and forms part of a larger group with interests in rigid plastic packaging, paper packaging, and logistics. In recent developments, Mega Flex Plastics installed four circular looms and commenced commercial production in October 2024 to enhance manufacturing capabilities; added new machinery including wide-width woven fabric looms and Leno4P looms for innovative fabrics, alongside a 400 KW solar power unit financed by a Rs. 124.32 lakhs loan from SIDBI; secured 6.5 acres of land in Khurdha, Odisha, for a new multi-phase facility producing injection/blow-molded plastic containers, Leno bags, PP woven bags, fabrics, and corrugated boxes with 9,600 MT annual capacity; issued convertible equity share warrants on a preferential basis, receiving Rs. 5.54 crores upfront from promoters and public; and reported FY2025 revenue of Rs. 60.31 crores (up 24.59%) with profit after tax of Rs. 3.43 crores (up 150%), including supplies to Pepsico Holdings India Private Limited and ITC Limited.
