Incorporated in 1956 and headquartered in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, the company supplies power primarily to southern and western Indian states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry and Rajasthan, with operations spanning Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand; it also markets raw lignite to small-scale industries and provides mining consultancy services.
