- NextSource Materials Inc. is a Canada-based battery materials development company focused on mining, processing, and supplying graphite and related minerals for lithium-ion batteries and technology applications. The company operates the Molo Graphite Mine in southern Madagascar, one of the largest known high-quality graphite deposits globally and the only source of SuperFlake graphite; it produces SuperFlake graphite concentrate with over 95% fixed carbon content at Phase 1 nameplate capacity of 17,000 tonnes per annum, with plans to expand to 150,000 tpa across multiple phases. NextSource develops downstream Battery Anode Facilities (BAFs) that convert flake graphite into high-value spheronized purified graphite (SPG) and coated SPG (CSPG) for electric vehicle battery manufacturers; these modular facilities leverage proprietary processing technology licensed exclusively for key markets in North America, Europe, Asia, and the UK. The company also holds early-stage exploration interests in the Green Giant Vanadium Project in Madagascar and the Sagar Project in Quebec, Canada. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, at Exchange Tower, NextSource serves battery and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with traceable, non-Chinese supply chain materials amid growing demand for critical minerals. In recent developments, the company began commercial production at the Molo Mine in 2023, achieving first exports of SuperFlake graphite to the US and Germany in October 2024; it executed a binding offtake agreement in 2025 with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation for approximately 9,000 tpa of active anode material to supply North American EV batteries; positive results emerged from a technical-economic study for a 30,000 tpa BAF in the UAE, including site securing in Abu Dhabi and projected post-tax NPV8% of US$442 million with production targeted for 2027; NextSource signed a new lease for its inaugural 3,600 tpa BAF in Mauritius in 2024 and advanced conceptual designs for a 20,000 tpa CSPG facility in Saudi Arabia; it upsized its drawdown credit facility with major shareholder Vision Blue Resources to US$30 million in October 2025 to fund UAE BAF progress and Molo operations.
