Nutrien Ltd. is a leading global provider of crop inputs and services, operating an integrated network of production, distribution and agriculture retail facilities across the agricultural value chain. The company produces and distributes approximately 27 million tonnes annually of potash, the world's largest upstream potash producer with capacity around 15 million tonnes; nitrogen products including ammonia, urea, ESN (Environmentally Smart Nitrogen), nitrogen solutions, nitrates and sulfates; and phosphate fertilizers such as monoammonium phosphate (MAP), superphosphoric acid (SPA), solid and liquid forms; through its four main segments of Nutrien Ag Solutions (Retail), Potash, Nitrogen, and Phosphate. Nutrien Ag Solutions, its downstream retail arm with around 2,000 locations worldwide serving over 600,000 customer accounts, offers crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, merchandise, agronomic services, digital agronomy tools, customized farm solutions and Nutrien Financial services. Founded in 2018 through the merger of PotashCorp and Agrium Inc., Nutrien maintains dual headquarters in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (registered head office) and Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with significant operations including a U.S. hub in Loveland, Colorado, and serves agricultural, industrial and feed customers in numerous countries across North America, Latin America, Asia, Australia and other regions. Recent strategic changes include the September 2025 agreement to sell its 50% equity stake in Argentina-based nitrogen producer Profertil S.A. to Adecoagro S.A. and Asociacion de Cooperativas Argentinas Coop Ltda. for approximately $600 million pre-tax, expected to close by year-end 2025 as part of portfolio simplification yielding $900 million in divestiture proceeds over the past year; initiation of a strategic review for its Phosphate business encompassing reconfigurations, partnerships or potential sale; controlled shutdown of its Trinidad Nitrogen facility in October 2025 due to port access uncertainties and unreliable gas supply; record upstream sales volumes and potash shipment guidance raised to 14-14.5 million tonnes for 2025; $1.2 billion returned to shareholders via dividends and repurchases in the first nine months of 2025; and $400-500 million in investing capital expenditures focused on proprietary products, retail network optimization, digital capabilities, nitrogen expansions and potash mine automation.
