The company targets residential loans including performing, re-performing, non-performing, business purpose bridge loans, business purpose rental loans, and second mortgages; structured multi-family property investments such as preferred equity and mezzanine loans; non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS); agency RMBS; commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS); single-family rental properties; and other mortgage, residential housing, and credit-related assets. Incorporated in 2003 and headquartered at 90 Park Avenue in New York, New York, New York Mortgage Trust, Inc. focuses on credit-sensitive assets alongside more traditional fixed-income investments like agency RMBS to generate risk-adjusted returns for stockholders while qualifying for REIT tax treatment by distributing at least 90% of taxable income. In July 2025, the company completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% interest in Constructive Loans, LLC, a leading originator of business purpose loans that has originated over $1.7 billion in the past year, through an all-cash transaction via a wholly owned subsidiary, enhancing its recurring income and residential credit market presence. This followed an initial 50% investment in Constructive in 2021 and supports expanded origination of high-quality business purpose loans for residential real estate investors. In September 2025, New York Mortgage Trust, Inc. announced a corporate rebrand to Adamas Trust Inc., with a trading symbol change to ADAM effective September 3, 2025, marking its evolution into a multi-dimensional investment and operating platform; over the prior year, it grew interest income by 55% via portfolio realignment toward agency RMBS. The company continues to strategically deploy capital across complementary businesses, including ongoing management of joint venture equity in multi-family properties primarily in southern U.S. markets and single-family rentals in areas like Chicago, Baltimore, and Houston.
