Franklin BSP Capital Corp is an externally managed, non-diversified closed-end management investment company that has elected to be regulated as a business development company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The company specializes in providing customized debt and equity financing solutions to private, middle-market companies across the United States. Its core investment offerings and financing solutions include first lien senior secured loans; unitranche facilities; second lien senior secured loans; subordinated and mezzanine debt; unsecured loans; equity co-investments, including common stock, preferred equity, and warrants; and specialized secured equipment financing and commercial leasing programs. The firm directs its capital toward middle-market enterprises operating in sectors such as software and technology services, healthcare providers and services, commercial and professional services, financial services, media, and industrials. Franklin BSP Capital Corp is externally managed by Franklin BSP Capital Adviser L.L.C., an affiliate of credit-focused alternative asset manager Benefit Street Partners L.L.C., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Resources, Inc. (Franklin Templeton). Founded in 2020, the company is headquartered in New York, New York. In January 2024, Franklin BSP Capital Corp completed a major merger with affiliated business development company Franklin BSP Lending Corporation, with Franklin BSP Capital Corp operating as the surviving entity and expanding its investment portfolio through the addition of approximately $2.8 billion in assets at fair value. In connection with the merger and subsequent operational integration, the company expanded its credit facility capacities and leveraged the Benefit Street Partners origination platform to scale its direct lending and sponsor-backed financing operations.
