Founded in 1950 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Velan operates as a subsidiary of Velan Holding Co. Ltd. In major strategic initiatives during 2025, Velan completed the sale of its French subsidiaries Segault SAS and Velan S.A.S. to Framatome SAS in March for total consideration of US$208.4 million and divested its asbestos-related liabilities through the April sale of Velan Valve Corp. to an affiliate of Global Risk Capital for US$143 million, resulting in a virtually debt-free balance sheet and enhanced liquidity to support growth in nuclear and clean energy sectors. The company secured a 10-year alliance agreement with Bruce Power in 2024 valued at up to $100 million for nuclear and non-nuclear valves and services, received a $20 million CAD valve order from Ontario Power Generation in October 2025 and celebrated the first order at its new Saudi Arabia plant in May 2025 after achieving Saudi Aramco approvals.
