- Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. historically engaged in the production, acquisition, and worldwide distribution of feature films and television programming. Established in 1981, initially as Medco and later as Vidatron Entertainment, the company adopted the Peace Arch Entertainment name in 1999, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, with additional offices in Los Angeles and Vancouver. Its operations once encompassed distinct divisions for motion pictures, television content, and home entertainment. The company's motion picture segment focused on developing feature films for theatrical release globally, as well as for DVD and television premieres, managing distribution rights and catalog licensing. In its television endeavors, Peace Arch Entertainment licensed various programs, including made-for-television movies, series, and documentaries, to broadcasters, cable, and satellite providers. Notably, it was among the producers for the historical drama television series "The Tudors". The home entertainment division distributed DVDs to retailers across Canada and the United States, offering a range of genres from children's and family fare to specialized interest and live-action films. Significant strategic moves included the 2007 acquisition of independent film companies Castle Hill Productions and Dream LLC, which added approximately 500 titles to its library and established a U.S. distribution and licensing presence. In 2009, Peace Arch Entertainment divested its North American home entertainment operations to Phase 4 Films Inc., redirecting its core focus towards television production and motion picture licensing. Ultimately, Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. ceased operations, filing for bankruptcy and being disestablished on May 16, 2013.
