Business
PetIQ, Inc. is a leading enterprise in the pet health and wellness sector, operating across the United States and internationally. The company functions through two main divisions: products and services, focusing on delivering accessible and affordable veterinary solutions. Within its product segment, PetIQ supplies a comprehensive array of prescription pet medications, encompassing treatments for flea and tick control, heartworm prevention, arthritis, thyroid conditions, diabetes, and pain management, alongside various antibiotics and specialized medicines. Additionally, the company develops and manufactures its own proprietary, value-driven brands and distributes third-party pharmaceutical products. Its offerings also extend to over-the-counter medications and essential supplies, primarily for flea and tick management and behavioral support, available in diverse forms such as topical applications, chewables, oral tablets, and collars. Furthermore, PetIQ provides a range of health and wellness items, including dental treats and nutritional supplements like those for hip and joint support, vitamins, and skin and coat health. The company manages a robust portfolio of brands, notably PetArmor, VIP Petcare, VetIQ, Capstar, Advecta, SENTRY, Rocco & Roxie, and Minties. The service division offers veterinary care through a broad network of community clinics and wellness centers hosted at retail locations. These facilities provide essential diagnostic tests, vaccinations, microchipping, prescription medications, and general wellness examinations, making pet healthcare more convenient. While the company has strategically adjusted its permanent wellness center footprint, it continues to serve a vast number of pets through its extensive network of pop-up community clinics across numerous states. PetIQ products are distributed through approximately 60,000 retail and e-commerce channels. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Eagle, Idaho, PetIQ recently underwent a significant change in ownership. On October 25, 2024, the company successfully completed its acquisition by Bansk Group, a private investment firm, in an all-cash transaction valued at around $1.5 billion. As a result, PetIQ is now a privately held company, and its shares are no longer traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange. The company remains independently operated by its executive team. Cord Christensen, the founder, will be succeeded by Camillo Pane as Chief Executive Officer, effective February 17, 2025.
