Premier Foods plc manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of ambient grocery and sweet treat products in the UK and internationally. The company operates through Grocery and Sweet Treats segments, offering flavourings and seasonings including Bisto gravy, Oxo stock cubes and Saxa salt; quick meals, snacks and soups such as Batchelors Cup-a-Soup, Super Noodles and Pasta n Sauce; cooking sauces and accompaniments encompassing Sharwood's, Loyd Grossman, Homepride and The Spice Tailor ranges; ambient desserts comprising Ambrosia custards and rice pudding, Angel Delight, Bird's custard and Atora suet; and sweet treats featuring Mr Kipling cakes, Cadbury cakes and cake mixes under licence from Mondelez International, alongside non-branded manufacturing of cakes and desserts for UK retailers. Founded in 1975 through Hillsdown Holdings and headquartered in St Albans, Hertfordshire, Premier Foods employs over 4,000 people across 13 UK manufacturing and office sites, with products sold to retailers, wholesalers, convenience stores and foodservice customers; its brands reach 89% of UK households and support a growing international presence in Australia, New Zealand, North America and EMEA regions. Recent developments include the August 2025 acquisition of Merchant Gourmet for £48m to bolster premium healthy ready-to-eat pulses, grains and meals, following prior purchases of The Spice Tailor and FUEL10K; a £36m investment announced in November 2025 to expand the Worksop site through 2029, doubling cooking sauce capacity and internalising Loyd Grossman production while extending that brand's licence to 2034; renewal of the Loyd Grossman partnership; a £2.1m solar farm installation at the Carlton bakery in October 2025 to reduce carbon emissions; and record branded sales growth with a 62% dividend increase reported in May 2025.
