The Progressive Corporation (NYSE: PGR) is a leading U.S. insurance holding company that provides personal and commercial property-casualty insurance products through its subsidiaries and affiliates. The company offers personal lines insurance including private passenger automobiles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, personal watercraft, and residential property coverage for homeowners, renters, and condo owners; commercial auto insurance covering liability and physical damage for business-owned vehicles such as dump trucks, log trucks, tractors, trailers, and vans; business-related general liability, commercial property, workers' compensation, cyber insurance, professional liability, and business owners policies; other indemnity products like directors and officers liability for community banks; and additional specialty offerings such as pet insurance, life insurance, umbrella insurance, flood insurance, mobile home insurance, wedding and event insurance, travel insurance, home warranty, home security, identity theft protection, jewelry insurance, and electronic device insurance. Progressive operates primarily in the United States through independent agents, direct channels online and by phone, and serves individuals, small businesses, and fleets with usage-based insurance programs like Snapshot; it was founded in 1937 and is headquartered in Mayfield Village, Ohio. Recent developments include the expansion of Motor Truck Cargo coverage in April 2025 to provide broader protection for truckers, the launch of an in-app safety feature in collaboration with Cambridge Mobile Telematics in November 2025 to deliver real-time accident assistance, the announcement of 2025 Driving Small Business Forward Grant recipients providing $50,000 each for commercial vehicle purchases in September 2025, a new advertising campaign leveraging AI for its Snapshot product in November 2025, and a 21% year-over-year increase in 2024 net written premiums to $74.4 billion with policies in force reaching 35 million.
