POET Technologies Inc. designs, develops, manufactures and sells high-speed optical engines, light source products and custom optical modules for artificial intelligence systems, hyperscale data centers, telecommunications, 5G interconnects and sensing applications including LIDAR and virtual reality systems; its core offerings center on the proprietary Optical Interposer platform enabling wafer-level integration of electronic and photonic devices into single chips with advantages in cost, power consumption, miniaturization and scalability; specific products encompass the POET Teralight series of 1.6T 2xFR4 and DR8 transmit and receive optical engines, POET Wavelight 800G 2xFR4 OSFP module reference designs, POET Infinity family covering 800G FR4 transmit/receive chiplets and 400G FR4 engines, legacy 200G FR4 and 100G CWDM4/LR4 engines, POET One 100G CWDM4 transceiver modules, plus light sources such as POET Starlight packaged O-Band and C-Band engines and POET LightBar O-Band/C-Band 4-channel and 8-channel engines. Founded in 1985 as Opel Technologies Inc. and renamed POET Technologies Inc. in June 2013, the company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and operates primarily in the United States, Canada, Singapore and China through design, development and sales activities. Recent developments include a November 2025 strategic partnership and co-development agreement with Quantum Computing Inc. to create 3.2Tbps optical engines incorporating thin-film lithium niobate modulators targeted for completion in the second half of 2026, a US$150 million oversubscribed registered direct offering priced in late October 2025, introduction of 1.6T optical receivers with Semtech in Q3 2025 financial results, accelerated development of 800G, 1.6T and 3.2T optical engines, partnerships with Foxconn Interconnect Technology and Luxshare Tech validating the Optical Interposer platform, and multiple 2024-2025 awards for AI hardware innovation including Best AI Hardware Innovation and Best Optical AI Solution.
