Founded in 1981 and headquartered in London, United Kingdom with registered offices in Jersey, the company employs over 7,600 people across more than 30 offices worldwide, with core markets in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), UK North Sea, India, Southeast Asia, Africa and the United States; it focuses on national and international energy companies, leveraging high-value engineering centres in the UK, India and the Middle East alongside global procurement networks for in-country value delivery. In recent developments, Petrofac secured a gas processing expansion contract from ADNOC Gas in June 2025, extended contracts with Ithaca Energy and others in the UK North Sea in September 2025, achieved US$500 million in operations contracts by April 2025, reached an agreement in principle on restructuring with Samsung E&A and Saipem in September 2025, obtained High Court sanction for its financial restructuring plan in May 2025 amid ongoing balance sheet efforts through December 2025 including a stakeholder Lock-Up extension, and placed its holding company Petrofac International Ltd into administration in late 2025 while redeploying staff and maintaining operational delivery.
