Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN Spólka Akcyjna (Orlen S.A.) is a multinational integrated oil and gas corporation that refines crude oil, produces petrochemicals, generates and retails energy, and explores upstream hydrocarbons. The company offers a broad portfolio of products and services, including unleaded gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, aviation fuel, biofuels, base oils, lubricants for automotive, marine, industrial and agricultural applications, bitumen, paraffin, solvents, salts, plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene, olefins, aromatics, and specialty petrochemicals marketed to over 60 countries; it also provides electricity and heat from conventional, gas-fired, hydro, onshore wind, solar photovoltaic and forthcoming offshore wind sources, natural gas trading and storage, retail fuels and non-fuel services at approximately 3,500 stations across seven markets, crude oil and fuels storage, transport, maintenance, laboratory, security, design, administrative, insurance and finance services. Orlen S.A. operates seven refineries in Poland, Czechia and Lithuania with over 30 million tonnes of annual crude throughput, maintains 5.6 GW of installed power capacity including 1.0 GW in renewables and 1.7 GW in gas-fired sources across 200,000 km of power lines, and holds 1,278 million boe of 2P reserves with average hydrocarbon production exceeding 154,000 boe/d in Canada, Poland, Norway and Lithuania. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Plock, Poland, the company conducts refining, petrochemical, energy, retail, gas and upstream operations primarily in Central and Eastern Europe, with additional presence in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Canada, Norway and Pakistan; key subsidiaries include Unipetrol in the Czech Republic and Orlen Lietuva in Lithuania. Orlen S.A. targets wholesale and retail customers including households, businesses, fuel station patrons exceeding 15 million regionally, three million electricity consumers, and industrial buyers of chemicals and fuels exported to over 100 countries worldwide. In recent developments, Orlen S.A. rebranded from PKN Orlen S.A. to Orlen S.A. in July 2023 to reflect its multi-energy focus, expanded its renewable portfolio by acquiring two solar PV farms and a wind farm from EDP Renewables Polska in October 2024 boosting onshore wind capacity to 580 MW and solar to over 350 MW, secured PLN 3.5 billion in financing from Poland's National Recovery and Resilience Plan in October 2025 for offshore wind projects including Baltic Power (1.2 GW operational targeted for 2026) and Baltic East, and obtained over PLN 1.7 billion in EU recovery grants in June 2025 for hydrogen initiatives Green H2 and Hydrogen Eagle. The company continues advancing offshore wind with first Polish-made nacelle turbines installed at Baltic Power in November 2025 and environmental approval for Baltic East, alongside plans for 9 GW total renewables by decade-end and small modular reactors by 2030. These strategic shifts support emission reduction goals toward net-zero by 2050, including 20% CO2 cuts from refining/petrochemicals and 33% from power generation by 2030.
