Business
Provectus Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. (PVCT) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company that develops immunotherapy medicines based on small molecules known as halogenated xanthenes for the treatment of diseases in oncology, dermatology, hematology, virology, microbiology, and ophthalmology. The company, founded in 2002 and headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, owns the entire class of these molecules, with its lead candidate rose bengal disodium formulated into products such as PV-10, an ablative immunotherapy for stage III and IV melanoma, liver cancers, blood cancers, relapsed and refractory pediatric solid tumors, bladder cancer, breast cancer, head and neck cancers, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and neuroendocrine tumors; PH-10 for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and skin inflammation; PV-305 for infectious keratitis; and additional oral, intranasal, and other formulations targeting adult solid tumor cancers, leukemias, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial infections, oral bacterial infections, fungal infections, cutaneous canine cancers, full-thickness cutaneous wounds, wound healing, tissue regrowth, and antibiotic resistance. Provectus operates primarily in the United States through research collaborations and licensing agreements, targeting patients with life-threatening cancers and inflammatory skin conditions. Recent developments include the initiation of a preclinical study of oral PV-10 in bladder cancer in September 2025; a $3 million seed financing round in January 2025 for VisiRose, Inc., its founded entity developing novel ocular therapeutics; an exclusive worldwide license option agreement with the Ophthalmic Biophysics Center of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami for eye infection treatments; an exclusive license agreement with the University of Miami in April 2024 for photodynamic antimicrobial therapy in ophthalmology; research collaborations with the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston for wound healing, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for antibiotic resistance, and the University of Calgary for oral rose bengal disodium in cancer treatment; and ongoing increases in research and development expenses to close out clinical trials as of December 2024.
