The company, formed in 2018 and headquartered at 500 West Texas Avenue, Suite 1200, Midland, Texas, conducted its initial public offering in May 2019. In a major strategic change, Diamondback Energy completed its acquisition of all remaining publicly held common units of Rattler Midstream in August 2022 through a merger, delisting the units from Nasdaq and fully consolidating ownership after exchanging 0.113 shares of Diamondback common stock per Rattler unit; prior to this, Rattler acquired water assets from Diamondback in December 2021 and executed a joint venture acquisition of Reliance Gathering assets with Oryx Midstream in 2019, expanding crude oil gathering by over 230 miles of pipelines and 200,000 barrels of storage in the Northern Midland Basin.
